Raise Your Hand If You’re Attending MASS West!
In less than a week, MASS West, aka the West Coast’s Medical Affairs Strategic Summit, will kick off in San Diego. Held September 23-25, the conference brings together Medical Affairs team members and medical science liaisons (MSLs) for presentations, panel discussions, case studies and networking. Komodo Health is a sponsor, so swing by our booth and say hello.
While you’re there, don’t miss our presentation by vice president of account management Seana Ziliak: “A Patient-Centric Approach to Medical Affairs Engagement.”
There are two primary facets to a patient-centric approach. First, improving outreach and engagement efforts requires that you identify the right influencers and dig deep into a disease state community to educate and influence. This effort starts with researching the actions of healthcare providers and organizations, which can be a laborious process.
If you start from a foundation of rich patient data, then mine that data using sophisticated analytic techniques, you will more accurately determine the right healthcare providers and organizations to engage for the right reason at the right time.
- Do they see the specific patients you’re interested in?
- Are they generating scientific evidence?
- What industry relationships do they have?
- How influential are they?
Linking scientific, clinical, industry, and network signals is the first step in a more effective engagement strategy. The second step is objectively and meaningfully assess the impact of this strategy on business and clinical patient outcomes.
It’s time for Medical Affairs teams to put aside simple counts of visit and survey completions and establish a consistent way to analyze value. Which approaches work, and which do not? Armed with this objective measurement capability, teams can be empowered to test new approaches and more rapidly innovate in the quest to reduce disease burden.
